30 for 30, day 25. Two for one.

02 Dec
Too Cozy To Be True dress and Don’t Mess boot, both from ModCloth

Look what I got! I ordered these from ModCloth before the shopping ban and I can’t wait to wear them! I must admit, the dress is short. As in head-turning short.  I’ll be wearing it as a tunic with leggings or something, like pants. I have really thick grey cable-knit tights which could also do the trick. The boots are fantastic, too. They’re flat so even though they won’t accommodate my insoles they will still be wearable. I’m so excited about this outfit that I might have to make my debut in it when the remix ends for me, in FIVE days!

Time is of the essence this evening because I still need to pack before heading down to Big Sur after work tomorrow. I’m looking forward to getting away, it’s been an action-packed week. No posts during the weekend but I’ll do my best to take photos when we go out to dinner after hiking all day and hopefully post them on Monday.

.   .   .   .   .   .   .

This next part is meant to be Friday’s post, hence the two-for-one action. These questions were posted for Fashion/Beauty Friend Friday and were inspired by someone who is closing her blog.

FBFF: How many hours a week do you spend blogging? Has that number changed since you started blogging?

FJ: I probably log about 7 – 9 hours or so a week. I’ve come to the realization that it’s about an hour nightly, give or take. It hasn’t changed but I just started and it may be too soon to tell.

FBFF: There is always more you can do, write, read, comment on… how do you limit your time spent on these tasks?

FJ: It’s still a bit of a free-for-all at this point. As the nature of discovery keeps evolving for me, I find that what interests me most keeps rising to the top organically. I’d love to have more time but it’s not physically possible. I try to stay focused on the task at hand for that moment: work on my photos, type up & review my post, check my favorite blogs. I typically blog at the end of my day, my internal clock usually lets me know it’s time to get to bed. It’s working so far. I do check some blogs during the day, I’m a fantastic multi-tasker and have two monitors at my desk. It’s not uncommon for me to have 15 to 20 windows open while working.

FBFF: Have you experienced Blogger burnout yet? How have you dealt with that?

FJ: Not yet. There have been evenings when I’ve been pretty tired. I remember that I’m choosing to do this. If I need a break, I’ll take it. There’s a chance I won’t blog daily once the remix is over. At least I say this now but I’m a creature of habit. I may go through withdrawals!

FBFF: This time of the year is always a lot busier than any other time. Will your blogging change as a result?
FJ: Probably not. I keep busy all year. I may not be blogging on weekends through the winter since I go snowboarding then, but we’ll see. There may be more posts on the awesomeness of snowboarding!

FBFF: Could you forsee a moment in which you are not blogging anymore? How would you identify that it’s time to walk away?

FJ: I don’t know what the future holds. It’s no different than anything in life for me. As long as I’m feeling it with my heart and I’m having fun with it I will keep doing it. Ask me again in a year. I’m no stranger to keeping a daily journal. While this is not nearly as personal or intimate, it’s a record of my life delivered in bite-size increments.

I’d like to thank Katy of ModlyChic for putting together these questions. I’d also like to encourage anyone who’s blogging to take a look at her post today, it’s loaded with tips on improving your blogs.

See you next week!

That's a great idea – layer tights that are a little too see-through. I never thought of that. Thanks for the tip!

Love the color of these tights! And I totally think you should keep up with blogging even after the 30 for 30 challenge is over. Like you said it becomes habit very quickly! – Katy
PS Thanks for participating in FBFF

That sweater (dress? tunic? top?) is pretty awesome. I also layer my tights constantly! Usually I wear Underarmour pants underneath my tights because it can get so cold (and because I'm a wuss who can't stand the cold).

Loving the blue here. Looking good. And I love the new purchases. Looking forward to seeing you rock them. We're nearly there. Yay!

The skirt is so retro nordic that you have on with the turtleneck, I love it!

The tunic would look great with leggings and those boots.

I wouldn't blog on the weekends either if I was snowboarding.
