30 for 30 Winter, day 9. Who you calling a wookie?

14 Feb

Ravens on a wire nuzzling overhead

There were wookie jokes made all day. I wonder why.

It’s finally raining in Northern California. While this might not mean much to those of you outside the state, it’s been a month since we’ve had any and unless we want our water to be rationed all summer, this is a good thing.

Of course it also means snow. Which means I finally get to take my beautiful new snowboard out this weekend. Am I excited? Heck yeah, I’m excited!

I managed not to capture my nordic leggings and brown boots while taking my picture this morning. I got distracted by two lovey ravens up on a wire overhead. The were being so sweet to each other. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen that before. Well, it was Valentine’s day.

In the last three days I designed and migrated my blog to another platform, wrote six posts, helped a friend with a design project and managed to celebrate Valentine’s by cooking dinner with my sweetie. If it seems like I’ve haven’t been around lately, you’re probably right. I miss seeing your faces, I’ll be back shortly.

Deets: Burgundy sweater dress/Marshall’s, faux fur vest/Urban Outfitters, belt/Anthropologie, necklace/gifted, hand-carved earrings/Chicago, woven bracelets/gifted, nordic leggings/Lulu’s, vegan brown suede boots/Munro.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

14 Feb

‘Cause baby, you will never be alone on this adventure – October 3, 2009

The other day I decided to check my old Yahoo mail inbox. I do this about once a year. This is what I found. An email I’d sent myself into the future from February 2006 using futureme.org. It was titled “Go kiss Fil.”

I was sweet on him back then, too

Ladies who will someday be forty, are currently forty and have been forty, I offer you Bella’s beautiful sentiment.  And if you’re of the sappy variety like me with an immense love of words, go here next for some more love.

To feel all warm and fuzzy inside, go here and then here to see what The Loudmouth has to say. If you just feel like sharing the love, the link love that is, check out Beautifully Invisible. To completely seal the deal on what a romantic I am, I’ll share one of my favorite love songs:

Wild is the Wind by David Bowie
Wild is the Wind

Love me, love me, love me, say you do
Let me fly away with you
For my love is like the wind, and wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Give me more than one caress, satisfy this hungriness
Let the wind blow through your heart
For wild is the wind, wild is the wind

[CHORUS]
You touch me,
I hear the sound of mandolins
You kiss me
With your kiss my life begins
You’re spring to me, all things to me
Don’t you know, you’re life itself!
Like the leaf clings to the tree,
Oh, my darling, cling to me
For we’re like creatures of the wind,
and wild is the wind
Wild is the wind

[CHORUS]
Like the leaf clings to the tree,
Oh, my darling, cling to me
For we’re like creatures in the wind, and wild is the wind
Wild is the wind

Just when you thought you couldn’t take it any more, take on last look at Buster, the feline love of my life. Fifteen years wasn’t enough time.

Ciao, baby. I’ll catch you on the flip side

May your days be filled with chocolate and kitty kisses.
