{ full time fabulous blog event: }

This is my first Full Time Fabulous blog event. The theme is to create a visual representation of how our location in the world influences us. As a citizen of the world, I chose to express myself solely through pictures I’ve taken over the past couple of years. I wanted to create a story without words and deliberately left it open to interpretation. For more information, check out Kristy Eléna’s blog.

Daily outfit and style tip, wearing Pantone's color of the year, honeysuckle, with jeans
Honeysuckle and cedar, from Pantone’s colors of the year palette

I realized this morning that I have become so accustomed to wearing dresses everyday that pants, especially jeans, have become a novelty. I’ve had this blouse for a few months and was itching to wear it.

{ style tip: }

Wearing denim to work requires some attention to detail so as not to appear unprofessional, even in a casual atmosphere. A soft blouse is comfortable but still looks polished. Dressier shoes with a low or medium heel in a similar color palette add an unpredictable touch.

How do you wear your denim to work? Do you choose fun tops and funky flats, or do you dress them up with a structured shirt, heels and a blazer? Or do you pick something in between?

{ deets: }

Cedar green blouse/Modcloth, honeysuckle infinity scarf/Urban Outfitters, jeans/Calvin Klein, sage green shoes/Tsubo, necklace/Linkel Designs.

    Loving the color mix of the celedon green top and the hot pink of the scarf. Oh and the best accessory? That 1000 watt smile, Fabu.

    The collages you put together are stunning That MLK quote has always been one of my favorites and this was such a beautiful way to incorporate it. I really love the way you chose to tell your story, and that you left it open for each of us to interpret.

    As for jeans, I WISH I could wear them to work, but even the dressiest jeans are too casual for here. I love the top you have on, and that scarf is such a great color for Spring. Most of all though, that smile is killer!

    These are strong photos. Love #1, my favourite. I’m a huge fan of the art as well. I only dress with structured attire/shirt for work but always make it my style (with accesories)!! But, do love funky heels. — Flattering colours on you! -xxoo

    Wow, those words are potent–thanks for sharing! I was thinking this morning how much I appreciate my freedom after I dropped off the kids at school…seriously, the freedom to schedule my own days, to write for a living, to say, dress, act how I wish. We are very lucky. I’ve been catching up on blog reading today and yours is one that I enjoy.
