Daily outfit and style tips, wearing green rosette blouse, red capri pants, kelly green hat

I’m forty-three and while I’ve never paid much attention to it before, the time has finally come for me to think about sun damage. Olive skin and great DNA have served me well all these years but one can only count on good luck so far. I’ve finally embraced a skin care routine, sunscreen and hats. I’m not likely to avoid the sun completely but I’d rather not age prematurely. A little vanity never hurts, especially in the form of a beautiful kelly green hat.

Today marks the debut of my European purchases, I bought these great platform wedge sandals in Barcelona and the red pants, (I’m kind of embarrassed to admit this), at the airport from Zara.

I’ve officially become that person who shops at the airport.

I have a good reason, though. I tried them on in my regular size in Barcelona and couldn’t get them up over my thigh. Potentially demoralizing as it was, I ignored the fake “U.S. sizing” and had a good laugh, then left the store to get to the airport on time. Once there, we found out our flight was delayed by almost an hour and the Zara store beckoned me to give it one more try. Three sizes up later, I got them fit perfectly. Success!

I had to find a photo of an antherium because I matched the one in my coffee shop perfectly. You know what else? Being forty-three rocks!

Happy Fourth of July!!

{ style tip: }

The first time I wore these pants I paired them with a cyan t-shirt on a weekend. I got even bolder by wearing this bright green empire waist shirt with them, I couldn’t resist the color combo. Bright pants seem to be everywhere this season and can be worn many different ways.¬†While an explosion of bright colors isn’t perfect for everyone, I would recommend bright pants with a neutral top and shoes as a great way to bring color into your wardrobe.

Do you have any bright pants? How are you wearing them? Leave a link to your post or photo if you have one, I’d love to see what you’re doing with them.

    I used to have a pair of hot pink trousers and a pair of red shorts, which I admit I found hard to co-ordinate…you see colorblocking wasn’t actually a hit when I bought them!! Now I resolve to more neutral colors for pants! You did a good match with the green top and hat! also don’t feel bad for shopping at airports…I’ve got a nice Zara t-shirt from Madrid airport and I almost bought a pair of wedges!!!

    Love that coy smile in picture number two.

    I have to say that I’m now starting to buy/wear more hats because 40 + is not forgiving of our past sun sins. Those brown age spots that I’m seeing are no fun. I love that big floggy hat on you, sun protection and so chic at the same time.

    Super hat…amazing color on you! You’ve got me wanting some red pants, too!
