July fog

Daily outfit and style tip, wearing blue top, recycled sweaters mini skirt, purple tights, blue suede platform sandals

For starters, let me make it clear that I didn’t use any special effects to blow out the background and sky. The House in the Clouds was enshrouded in fog. Nice, thick, white July fog. I know, it makes no sense to me, either. It’s been cold all week and I’m at a loss as to how to dress.

It just doesn’t seem right to wear a thick sweater in July.

I went running with a light jacket, wool socks and gloves yesterday. I don’t think I wear that much in winter, all I know is that I was cold and being cold was not going to mess with this girl’s exercise. I’m too lazy to postpone it. That’s right: lazy. If I didn’t do it then, I’d have to do it later and I was feeling too lazy to do it later, so, yeah, you get it. Foggy logic. Can you blame a girl?

I’ll take the sunshine back now. ‘k, thnx, bye.

{ blog events: }

Some of you may have noticed my waining participation in blog events as of late, I assure you it’s temporary. I needed to re-focus on what my intention was with The House in the Clouds and I was starting to feel spread a little thin. In the meantime, I want to give a shout out to some of the fun stuff going on at the moment. Participating in the past has provided me with inspiration and has given me the opportunity to make new friends. Check out what’s happening this week:

Everybody Everywear - Each month a new item is chosen. You choose how to wear it and submit your photo on the day of the event. Yellow was this month’s theme.

Full Time Fabulous - Each month a new inspiration theme is chosen. This month’s is the sea.

Feminist Fashion Bloggers - The theme for this month is social class. There are a lot of thought provoking posts in these events.

Fashion Beauty Friend Friday – Twice a month questions are posed relating to blogging, fashion and beauty for you to answer.

This is just a sample of what’s out there. If you’re interested in finding out about even more blog events, just ask me.

{ style tip: }

I really wasn’t sure what to wear given how cold it was, I wasn’t prepared to wear a big sweater and boots. I found the middle ground by wearing summer sandals with tights, a warm yet short skirt, and a mid-weight top. I think of this outfit as a by-product of successful sartorial negotiation.

How you ever been thrown for a loop by unusual weather? What did you do?

    It’s been cold here in Oregon the past few days as well and it’s thrown me for a bit of a loop. I’ve handled it by covering up my legs – fewer skirts, less pants. And adding cardigans. I don’t do great with in between weather though – it’s just so weird.

    Love these photos – the fog is amazing and your hair looks fabulous.

    I am so tired of sweating…it is ridiculously hot in Texas…so I am jealous of your sweater and your tights…they look great and make me long for cooler times.

    Weird! July fog. It has been crazy hot in Florida as of late. That, mixed with scary thunderstorms everyday. You look great in purple, I really like it on you.

    For loopy weather, I usually wear layers. That way, depending on the changes I can add/remove clothing. And I just think layers are really stylish and intriguing. There so many more possibilities of mixing prints and colors. :) I love what you did with this outfit.

    We don’t have that kind of weather in Delaware. We just have hot, and not as hot. I really like this look on you — I really like the colors. I would like to see more of that skirt though.

    The fog is impressive! What is the temp?

    I know what you mean about participating in all the memes. I had one week in which 4 out of 5 blogging days were taken up with participation in various blogging events. I found myself pulling back and trying to reclaim my own blog.

    Layering is a very good idea with uncertain weather. I love the way your photos turned out courtesy of the fog. I think you did a good job with the tights and sandals too. I would like to see more of that skirt though. The pattern looks interesting………..
