This outfit makes me happy. Very happy. There’s more to it than meets the eye. In fact, just standing next to my Icelandic poppies makes this outfit even better. Poppies and calla lilies are my two most favorite flowers. I grow both in my garden. Instant happiness. Memories are made from everything that touches and leaves a story. Head to toe, this outfit has a complete tale to tell.

The necklace I’m wearing was given to me by a former co-worker as a birthday gift. Her sister hand-made the glass beads, she made the necklace. I think of them both fondly every time I wear it. The watch was a gift from my ex mother-in-law, I think of her generosity, wicked sense of humor and love of cats every time I wear it. The bee ring is another nod to my connection to the outdoors and all the creatures within it. I’ve never been afraid of critters and take great pleasure in the time I spend hiking, camping or running. The blue lace top was a pleasant treat when I was issued a store credit for a defective pair of pants. The floral slip-on shoes are Tom’s. Happiness for my feet. I”m a big fan of Tom’s and like being able to participate in improving others’ lives, especially when it’s been made so easy to do.

The red pants I bought in Spain. They’re just hot. You can’t argue with that.

You might have noticed my Google Friend Connect widget has been taken down. I found out that Google is discontinuing this product soon, I figured I might as well get used to no longer relying on it. There are still a variety of ways to subscribe to updates for this blog. In the meantime, I’d be delighted if you left me your url in the comment box, I’ll do my best to visit.

The outfit in its entirety

An obi belt I made myself

The obi belt I made with two silk ties

Bracelets from H&M

Love the color of these dainty bracelets!

Patterned tights and cool bag from Argentina

My purse against the pattern of the tights

I’m officially behind on getting pictures up but, on the other hand, I’ve got a slew of cool snowboarding photos. I’ll spare you most, but do stay tuned for my favorite. It has to do with a sign, a skull and crossbones, and me and the hubby. Grinning.

Fine, twist my arm, I’ll just tell you all about it. We posed like tourists in front of the “Experts Only” sign for the double black diamond run we did six times. Cheesy, yes, but in a good way. I’ll get it up soon for your viewing pleasure. We look silly, I’m warning you.

Deets: Aqua cashmere cardi/Bloomingdale’s, black dress/MaxStudio, patterned tights/Cynthia Crowley, obi belt/ReStyled as shown here, black leather ankle boots/Munro, teal and silver tone bracelets/H&M, hand-made glass bead necklace/gifted, purse/gifted from Argentina.

30 for 30 Winter, day 10. Windy days

15 Feb

I carried my own personal sunshine with me all day

This necklace and glass beads were hand-made and gifted to me

It dawned on me that some days are magical photo days and others, not so much. I usually snap a couple rounds of seven consecutive shots with the self timer and call it a day. Today would be the exception. I must have taken about five rounds this morning that were so bad that upon my return home to grab my forgotten phone I proceeded to shoot another three rounds. I kid you not, they were that bad. Let me help you with that math, that’s fifty-six. Fifty-six pictures to get a single decent one.

I’ll admit it worked out, even with the wind blowing in my hair and my sweater being slightly cattiwampus. Some days are just like that, so, okay then. Be that way, day.

Lest I forget once again, it’s time to be Fabulous in February. Here’s the deal, this is the month of love and every Monday this month it’s all about self-love, Tuesday if you’re me and you forgot. Those of us participating are publicly declaring three things we love about ourselves. I can do that.

Numéro Un: I like that I have great stamina. When healthy, I’ve almost always had the stamina to take on any activity for a really long time. I used to go cycling four to five hours at a time. I ran a half-marathon with only a couple weeks of training. I’m just good at pacing myself and just hanging in there.

Numéro Deux: I like that I’m always learning new things. I ask more questions now than ever before. It’s amazing how many new things I learn every day. Crazy!

Numéro Trois: I like that I can cry. I never cried much when I was growing up. (Whatever conclusions you just came to about my upbringing are probably correct, I’ll leave it at that.) I didn’t express pain, only anger and frustration. I never let anyone seem my vulnerable side. What a drag, really. Everyone needs to cry some time. Even if it’s a television commercial. My tears, my moment with a tissue or two. That’s what waterproof mascara is for.

On another note I’ve been tooling around with the idea of a vlog feature. Let’s see how I do on camera. Actually, I already know. It’s weird to see yourself. I’m going to totally erase myself from my memory and try again. Am I gutsy enough? We’ll see. I shudder at having to hear my voice, you guys know what I’m talking about; when you suddenly realize what you sound like to everyone else. What do you think? To vlog or not to vlog?

Deets: Aqua cashmere cardigan/Bloomingdale’s, black skirt/Nordstrom’s, yellow tights/Urban Outfitters, aqua tank top/Free People, elastic top slip-on shoes/Munro, hand-made glass bead necklace/gifted.
